FUNERALS

Saying goodbye to someone you love is one of life’s most profound moments. At a time when there is a great deal to take in and many decisions to make, having the right person to lead the ceremony can bring clarity, calm and reassurance.

As a funeral celebrant, I offer bespoke funeral and memorial ceremonies across the Dordogne and Charente for English-speaking families who want something personal, respectful and deeply meaningful — a ceremony that truly honours the life that has been lived.

Thoughtfully led, Personal, Unhurried

Funeral Ceremonies in Dordogne and Charente

A ceremony that reflects and honours your loved ones life.

Every person is unique, and their farewell should be too. A celebrant-led funeral allows space for stories, memories, values and personality — not just dates and formalities.

Together, we create a ceremony that reflects who your loved one really was:

  • their character and passions

  • the relationships that mattered most

  • the values they lived by

  • the legacy they leave behind

Whether the tone you would like is quiet and reflective, gently celebratory, or somewhere in between, the ceremony is shaped entirely around them — and around you.

Honouring the moment, wherever it takes place

Many ceremonies I lead take place at local crematoriums here in France. While these settings are often simple and unfamiliar to families, they can still hold a deeply meaningful farewell.

Through words, pacing and presence, I help transform the space into one that feels personal and grounded — a place where stories can be shared, love can be expressed, and a life can be properly acknowledged.

It is not the setting itself that defines the ceremony, but how it is held — with care, respect and intention.

What a celebrant-led ceremony offers in France

For British and international families, navigating a funeral in France can feel daunting. A celebrant brings reassurance, continuity and warmth to the experience.

A celebrant-led ceremony offers:

  • Flexibility — the freedom to include personal readings, music, images and videos and religious elements or moments of reflection

  • Language comfort — ceremonies led in English

  • Time and care — space to talk, remember and get things right, without being rushed

  • Human connection — a ceremony led by someone who takes the time to truly understand your story

My role is to gently guide you through this moment, ensuring the ceremony feels calm, dignified and thoughtfully led from beginning to end.

My approach

I work with compassion, discretion and quiet presence. I listen carefully, so the ceremony feels truthful and authentic.

I will;

  • Meet with you and your family (in person or online) at a pace that feels right.

  • Listen and find out about your loved ones life, loves , values and hold space for you. I will ask a number of questions that give me the information I need to write their ulogy.

  • I will then write the ceremony and send you a copy to read over and approve.

  • On the day I will arrive at the funeral venue and liase with who I need to regarding music and or photos to be played and then await your arrival.

  • I will deliver the end of life service with warmth, dignity and sincerity

  • I will liaise with funeral directors where helpful, to ease the practical load

Memorials and celebrations of life

In addition to traditional type funerals, I also offer memorial ceremonies and celebrations of life — held weeks, months or even years later. These can take place at crematoriums, in gardens, private homes, or other meaningful locations, allowing families to gather when the time feels right.

Above all, I hold the space — for remembrance, reflection and love.
