Not exactly. Celebrant-led ceremonies in France and Mallorca are symbolic, not legally binding. For a legal marriage:
France: Civil marriage must be performed at a town hall (mairie) by a civil registrar. At least one of you must meet residency requirements (commonly living in the commune for 30–40 days or having another local connection).
Mallorca / Spain: Civil weddings also require local registration or residency (“empadronamiento”)
Many couples who live abroad complete the civil/legal marriage in their home country, then have a celebrant-led ceremony in France or Mallorca. I guide couples through this process so your symbolic wedding is smooth, stress-free, and unforgettable.
